Cick here for our NEW Professional Development Training Calendar for March to June 2012
This professional development training provides details of the sessions that will be offered by fka Children’s Services between March and June 2012.
Information about professional development sessions from July-December 2012 will be added to our website www.fka.com.au as the information becomes available.
The beginning of 2012 will signify many exciting rewards and challenges for Early Childhood Services as they begin to implement key changes to service provision and programs as required under the National Quality Frameworks.
The guiding principles of the National Quality Frameworks:
Based on the principles of the National Quality Frameworks fka Children’s Services have developed and scheduled professional development training to support and empower educators to implement culturally competent programs.
Each professional development session has been created to support cultural competency consistent with the of the National Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) and the My Time, Our Place—Framework for School Age Care in Australia (FSAC).
All sessions can be attended as stand alone professional development sessions and are developed as a themed series to offer educators the opportunity to build on their knowledge and specific areas of interest.
Language Series
Participants will gain a better understanding of the issues children learning English as an Additional Language may face.
These sessions explore strategies that support children to maintain their home language while learning English as an Additional Language in a partnership approach with families.
Disability Series
Cultural perceptions of disability are unique to each family; supporting families who have a child with a disability can be complex, particularly where values and beliefs may differ. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on their experiences and enhance their awareness of effective inclusion based on respectful relationships with families and children.
Diversity and Equity Series
These sessions will support participants to provide culturally inclusive learning environments based on the underlying principles of the National Quality Framework.
Play Series
These sessions, will provide participants with opportunities to enhance, and extend on their knowledge through interactive case studies focusing on sustained shared thinking, program planning and critical reflection.
Partnership Series
Encompasses the importance of building respectful and responsive relationships, not only with families and children from CALD backgrounds, but with the educators with whom we work.
