Terms and Conditions for Online Borrowing

In becoming a member of the FKA Children's Services Library/MRS (Mobile Resource Service) members agree to the following Terms and Conditions.

Borrowing Limits
To ensure that all members are able to access a variety of resources members are able to borrow items within the following limits:

  • 10 play items
  • 10 children’s books
  • 5 staff books
  • 3 CDs or story tapes
  • 5 posters

Receiving Items

  • FKA Children’s Services will incur the cost of posting resources to services
  • Members will check the contents of all bags and loans list to ensure that their order is complete
  • Members will inform the Librarian immediately if these are damaged
    or missing pieces
  • If feedback is not received about lost or damaged items within 3 days of receiving the stock members agree that the order is correct and in good condition

Member Responsibilities

  • Members are responsible for ensuring that all items are appropriately cared for
  • As with all plastic bags, our bags should be kept out of the reach of children
  • Resources borrowed for use with children should only be used under
    adult supervision

Returning Items

  • Members are responsible for incurring the cost of returning items to the FKACS
  • Items which are returned after the due date may incur a fine
  • All stock should be returned in the bags that they arrived in. Most MRC library bags have a barcode attached that is essential for the lending and returning of items as well as protecting items from damage
  • Members are responsible for ensuring that items are returned in the condition in which they were received (this includes cleaning items)
  • The borrowing period is six weeks
  • To avoid a fine members should ensure that they return borrowed items by the
    due date
  • Borrowing periods can be extended online if necessary
  • Accumulation of unpaid fines may result in borrowing ability being limited
    or suspended

Repair/Replacement of Damaged Stock
We recognise at the FKA Multicultural Resource Centre that resources that are borrowed for use by children often become worn and that occasionally things may become damaged or lost. While we are able to cover the cost or replacing worn resources and the occasional lost resource, FKACS Multicultural Resource Centre Library is a service with a limited budget for new resources therefore, if services consistently return borrowed items that are damaged or have pieces missing it will be necessary for us to recoup the cost of these items. The service responsible will be asked to pay for the damaged or lost stock so that we can replace them for other services to access. Please consider the age of the children and the suitability of particular resources.

Members agree to incur the costs of the replacement or repair of damaged stock as follows:

  • Lost bag or barcode - $5 per bag
  • Replacing toys - $20 per item
  • Bilingual children’s book - $30 per book
  • Staff resource books - $50 per book
  • Repairing puzzle piece - $5.00
  • Repairing toys - $10 per toy
  • CDs to Audio cassettes $30.00
  • Videos - $80.00
