FKA Children’s Services has a team of Consultants available to provide support to staff working in Children’s Services. The support we provide will depend on the specific needs of the service and may include of the following:

• Provide telephone support and advice
• Assist staff in understanding particular backgrounds  of children and families
• Provide staff with information about cultural practices of specific groups
• On-site visits to support staff to develop culturally inclusive programs
• Support staff to develop language rich programs
• Provide written resources for staff and translated information for families
• Provide information about culturally responsive routines and transitions
• Provide communication techniques so that families feel welcome
• Provide support about the formation of policies which are culturally and linguistically inclusive
• Discuss the possibility of the provision of bilingual support
• Facilitate meetings between the parent, staff and bilingual worker to discuss and share information
• Provide ongoing support to bilingual workers to ensure that they are supported in their role
