Maintaining the child’s 1st language is extremely important as it forms the foundation for all future language learning and serves to strengthen the community ties.

• Role of the Casual Bilingual Worker
• Stages of 2nd language development

Session Outcomes

• Develop confidence in supporting staff, children and families from CALD backgrounds
• Understanding and identify the principles of second language acquisition
• Develop understanding of Casual Bilingual Workers role in supporting children, families and staff
